Recently, I had a preaching appointment at Shacklett Church of Christ in Kingston Springs on Highway 70S. It was a nice group and I was encouraged by worshipping with them. I managed to snap a couple of pictures while I was there.
The first one shows the height that the water level reached during the 2010 flood. I remember seeing on the news that their building was severely affected. The shell of the church was kept, but the insides were completely redone.
The next picture shows a couple of inlaid stones on the outside of the building, indicating the dates of the original building and the reconstruction from the flood. The first stone is a little hard to read, but it reads “Church of Christ Meeting at Shacklett 1860-1951.” The second stone reads “Flooded May 2, 2010; Rebuilt and Returned to Worship Aug. 8, 2010”
