When Necessary Use Words

Francis of Assisi is attributed with the following quote:

Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.

The good news of salvation is certainly a message to be spread, but part of the good news is its power to change people, which should be witnessed in the lives of Christians. The gospel must shape who we are, our lives serving as a walking testimony of its efficacy. The gospel should mold our thoughts, our language, our demeanor and our actions. There is not an aspect of our being that is reserved from its influence. So, have you taken up the vocation of preaching?

In the words of one of the verses from the Christian hymn Remember Who You Are: “Let your light be bright, steadfast and true. Live so others will see Christ in you. Your life a sermon sinners see, What the Christian life is meant to be.”
